The 2023 OPGA Coaching & Teaching Summit is designed for teachers and coaches by OPGA teachers and coaches and will be an educational and networking event for all PNWPGA members to attend, with guests.  It is our goal to better prepare our professionals, teachers and coaches, with the skills and knowledge required to drive meaningful engagement and enjoyment in the game of golf at your facilities. This workshop will bring together like-minded individuals in golf and to discuss the value of coaching and techniques to track, coach skill development, and the future of coaching. These individuals will come together for shared learning and an exchanging of ideas.

Innovative Ideas to Enhance Your Members Buying Experience

Join us for a 60-minute webinar presented by Brett Eaton, PGA. Topics include:

  • Creative merchandise ideas to connect with members
  • Vendor and Professional Staff support (demo days and short game clinics)
  • Unique display items to engage members (more turns through the golf shop, creates Q&A)
  • Create a buying environment / urgency to purchase (quick turns of merchandise)  key in on members buying habits

Brett Eaton, Head PGA Professional at Tacoma C&GC, is an award-winning merchandiser. In addition to winning the Western Washington Chapter PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award for Resort facilities ten times, he received Section honors in that category in 2014. In 2022, he received the Merchandiser of the Year Award for Private facilities at both the Chapter and Section level. He has taken his success to several of Washington’s premium courses, including Homestead GC (awards in 2003, 2004, 2005), Semiahmoo Resort (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014) and Tacoma C&GC (2022). He is also the recipient of the 2014 Western Washington Chapter PGA Golf Professional of the Year award.

PGA HOPE Professional Training Session @ Glen Acres G&CC

Get PGA HOPE certified to work with vets in a FREE one-day seminar presented by Bob Epperly, PGA. The purpose of the training program is to learn how to provide a comfortable first experience for military veterans. PGA Professionals attending one of these sessions will be eligible to participate as instructors in PGA HOPE programs. This program is also a great opportunity for PGA Professionals to be trained to teach all people with disabilities at their clubs.

If you have attended the training in the past, please feel free to take it again as there is new information. If you lead a PGA HOPE class, you will be reimbursed for your time, range, greens fees, etc.

PDR credits will be awarded.

WA Golf Rules of Golf Workshop #2 @ Fairwood Golf & Country Club

WA Golf Rules of Golf Workshops

The content covered throughout the workshops will mirror what is presented in the three-day Rules Workshops conducted nationally each year by the USGA/PGA. Each individual workshop day will run from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with multiple breaks and a hosted lunch included. The cost to attend an individual session is $25 but those who register for all three can do so for $60 and will get a copy of the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf as well. Our hope with these workshops is to provide the same quality presentation as the national Rules Workshop but to do so at a more effective cost.

Additionally, PGA Members will be awarded 7 PGA PDR credits for each workshop they attend.

2023 marks the first revision of the rules since the massive 2019 rewrite. Some items that were local rules added in are now standard practice. We will review those as well as other changes made to the rules. We will also hit some basic items to keep you fresh and ready for your 2023 event schedule at the club.

Principles of Scorecard Design

Free, one-hour online course eligible for 1 PGA PDR. The course can be found at www.golfscorecards.com. To earn a credit, PGA members must watch the video and then pass a short online assessment.
