Donahue Wins National Car Rental PNW PGA Assistant Professional Championship

By Cameron McCauley, PNW PGA Tournament Intern

On August 1, 2022, 37 Assistants and Associates gathered at Port Ludlow Golf Club in Port Ludlow, WA to compete in the National Car Rental PNW PGA Assistant Professional Championship. Players competed over 36 holes to qualify for the 46th PGA Assistant Championship supported by Srixon, Cleveland Golf, XXIO, ASICS, to be held November 17-20, 2022, at PGA Golf Club, Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In the end, PGA Professional Bradley Donahue of Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia came out on top with scores of 70-67–137, 7-under to win the PNW PGA Assistant Champion title. Along with Donahue, PGA Professional Colin Inglis of Shadow Hills Country Club and PGA Professional Matthew Hoffman of Sand Point Country Club will be heading to Florida to represent the Section in November.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Donahue of his first Section win. “Our section is full of so many great golfers, so to come out on top of such a talented field for my first win is a huge confidence boost. It was a tight battle down the stretch so I was very pleased to keep my composure and finish it out strong.”

“It means a lot to advance to the National Championship from our Section,” stated Donahue. “That was my goal entering Monday… to finish in that top three so I could advance on to a great opportunity. I can’t wait to tee it up in Florida in November representing the PNW!”

Various other players had a solid week as well to put them into the three alternate positions, starting with first alternate PGA Professional Bradley Myers of The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club, PGA Professional Shane Prante of The Home Course, and PGA Professional Daniel Campbell of Bellingham Golf and Country Club.

“A huge thank you to the whole PNW PGA staff and Port Ludlow for a great event, they made everything very smooth and easy for the players,” Donahue stated. “The course looked great and played really well!”

The PNW PGA Section would like to thank Port Ludlow for hosting. Special thanks to host PGA Head Professional Jim Mancill, and all his staff and grounds crew for having the course in championship condition. We would like to appreciate our sponsor National Car Rental as well as the support of Srixon, Cleveland Golf, XXIO, and ASICS.
