Pacific Northwest PGA Section Celebrates 100 Years

The Pacific Northwest PGA Section officially kicked off its yearlong celebration to commemorate its centennial. The Section, the PGA of America’s largest geographical managing entity, was founded in the first week of March, 1922 and now manages nearly 1,200 PGA Members and Associates who are employed at over 340 golf facilities in Washington, Oregon, northern Idaho, western Montana and Alaska.

“In 1916, the PGA of America was established. A few short years later, what was to become the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA of America was founded. Today, we are one of the largest, most successful Sections in the PGA of America,” said Howie Pruitt, PGA, Pacific Northwest PGA Section President. “I’m proud of the success we’ve enjoyed, and I am proud of every one of our Professionals, Associates, and employees. I am confident our Section will continue the help shape the PGA of America for another 100 years.”

Throughout 2022, the Section will highlight its rich history, including PGA Members and championships. Included in this year’s centennial celebration:

  • Pacific Northwest PGA centennial articles in “ForeWord Press,” the Section’s official e-publication.
  • Regular social media and pnwpga.com postings highlighting Pacific Northwest PGA history.
  • A celebration of recent Section award winners on March 20, 2022 at Inglewood Golf Club and highlighting of historical award winners.
  • A display of Pacific Northwest PGA historical information and memorabilia at the PNWPGA Merchandise Show on September 25-26 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center.

“The PNWPGA is celebrating its centennial because of the passion, dedication, and wisdom of the members and staff that served the section these past many decades. It is a privilege to celebrate this milestone and to ensure the excellence we have become synonymous with for the next hundred years,” stated Frank Talarico, Pacific Northwest PGA Section CEO.
