Executive Director: Central WA, Inland Empire & Western MT Chapters

Overview

Tumwater, WA | The Pacific Northwest Section PGA of America, headquartered in Tumwater, Washington, has an opportunity for a dedicated individual to grow their career in association management. The Pacific Northwest Section provides membership, educational and tournament services to 1,200 PGA Professionals in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Conducting over 230 competitive events annually, the Section staff takes pride in providing excellent service to the membership.

Job Summary | This full-time position will provide administrative support, tournament leadership, and sponsorship sales to the Central Washington, Inland Empire, and Western Montana Chapters. Assisting the Chapter Board of Directors, managing Chapter communications and providing support to our on-site Chapter tournament personnel. This position will report to the CEO, PNWPGA in cooperation with the Boards of all three chapters. This position will serve out of an appropriate shared space within the boundaries of any one of the three chapters served.

Experience Required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. PGA Member or Associate preferred.
  2. Prior tournament or association management experience a plus.
  3. Calligraphy skills a plus and the ability to develop skills required.

Essential Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Event Management: Creating and maintaining yearly event schedule. Pre-event preparations for Chapter Pro-Ams and Championships – Golf Genius, local rules, player management and host course communications. Event follow up – results to accounting and points.
    1. Specific Event Expectations: incumbent will be present at a minimum of ten (10) events in the Inland Empire Chapter, four (4) events in the Central Washington Chapter, and four (4) events in the Western Montana Chapter. In addition to the events outlined above, the Executive Director is also expected to attend each Chapter’s Fall and Spring meeting. The executive director is responsible for coordinating these meetings in a manner that allows their presence at each chapter’s meetings.
    2. Supervisory Expectations: As may be agreed upon by each, individual chapter, the incumbent will hire, train, and manage a part-time Pro Am Coordinator to be present at those events the incumbent is unable to be present, physically.
  2. Communications & Stakeholder Relationships: Responsible for web site content, membership communications, social media communications and support for sponsor engagement including activation, retention and recruiting to drive beneficial Chapter (and Section) outcomes.
  3. Governance: Responsible for preparations for Board Meetings, Membership Meetings, minutes and records, Tournament Regulations, Special Award assistance and financial reporting, monitoring, etc.
  4. Other Duties as Assigned: The Section PGA currently has full-time staff, part-time staff and a seasonal intern. Key to our success is the interaction with and support of fellow employees so all employees support the efforts of the whole team.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  1. A passion for golf!
  2. Proven skills in time management and prioritization of competing deadlines; management and retention of stakeholder relationships (e.g. sponsors and their key clients when applicable).
  3. Skills in oral, written and interpersonal communications, including public speaking and presentations. Experience with social media platforms.
  4. Skills in planning and organizing, event management and managing multiple priorities.
  5. Strong moral character and unquestionable integrity.
  6. Knowledge of tournament administration, the golf industry and PGA of America activities, programs and governance.
  7. Ability to work independently with little supervision and a creative mindset.
  8. Ability to travel frequently within the PNWPGA geographic boundaries and work some nights, weekends (particularly Sunday afternoon) and/or holidays.
  9. Positive and upbeat personality, high-energy individual.
  10. Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite of products and the ability to quickly become literate on Mailchimp Marketing Service and Golf Genius Tournament Software.
  11. Ability to present self in a professional manner and appearance.
  12. Team player motivated by the success of the organization.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Responsible for managing, maintaining and functioning within assigned budgets.
  2. Sponsorship sales in support of chapter events, as directed by the chapter boards and the CEO.

POSITION/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position must be able to travel for extended periods of time in various modes of transportation.
  2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and the stamina to work extended periods both indoors and outdoors in cold and hot climates.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in adverse hot, cold and wet outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  5. The employee must be able to drive the company vehicle and/or drive to and from various locations throughout the Section.

Benefits

Compensation/Benefits | Exempt, salary employee. Starting salary is $55,000-$60,000 plus benefits. Very Aggressive Sponsor sales commission and performance bonus eligible, (up to $75,000+ based on the engagement, energy and emotional intelligence of the right candidate).
