Conditions of Entry

The PGA of America has adopted the condition of competition for Grooves and/or Punch Marks at the Section level of the Pacific Northwest Senior PGA Professional Championship.  ALL PLAYERS choosing to play in the Championship Division MUST comply with this condition of competition.  This condition is in place for any senior who is playing the Championship Division regardless of whether they are trying to qualifying for the Senior Professional Championship.

This condition does not apply to players choosing to play in the Senior Division.

History of the Championship

The Senior PGA Professional Championship was established in 1952. Back then, the championship was held at the Yakima Elks’ G&CC with only 21 professionals battling it out for the mere sum of $920 dollars. The famous Bob Duden won the championship six times during the 70’s and seven times overall. Today this is a popular event for Section seniors.

Last year, George Mack Jr of Black Butte Ranch won the Senior PGA Professional Championship. In second place was PGA Professional Mark Keating of Reserve Vineyards and GC with PGA Professional Jim Pike of Sahalee CC in third.

Illahe Hills CC

Illahe Hills CC originally opened for play on July 1, 1961. The course was designed by William F. Bell, JR. The greens were rebuilt in 2003 & 2004 making them some of the best greens in the valley.

A tree-lined layout creates a challenging golf experience in a park-like setting. Illahe Hills has played host to many of Oregon’s major golf events, as well as USGA Championships.

Head PGA Professional Steve Bowen is excited to host.  The Optional Pro-Am takes place  on Tuesday.  Please make sure to sign up on your Section entry form.

Reminder – the Senior PGA Professional Championship has Senior Hudson Cup points (worth 1.5 times the normal value) and Senior Player of the Year points.  Plan on playing!
