You may register for this event through PGA of America Membership services at 800-474-2776, www.pgalinks.com, or at www.pgatournaments.com

You must be employed as an A-8 or as an Apprentice (including Apprentice Head Professional) as of July 18th to be eligible to play in the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF.  Top finishers in our National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF will advance to the 2012 National Car Rental PGA Assistant National Championship presented by CPBRA PUMA GOLF at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida – November 1-4, 2012.  The more players we have sign up for our event means we will receive more spots to advance to the National Championship and more purse money.  Our spots and $$$$ increase as our player numbers increase.

~History of the Championship~

This year’s Assistant Championship marks the 36th Anniversary as a National event but the PNW Section has been conducting the event since Fred Pelzer donated the trophy in 1965.

The National Championship tradition began in 1976 to recognize the role of the PGA Assistant Professional and how important he or she may be in the success of a golf facility as well as our entire Association.  They represent more than 10,000 men and women assistant professionals and registered apprentices nationwide.

Last year, PGA Professional Derek Berg of Glendale CC won the PGA Assistant Championship by one stroke over PGA Professional Josh Immordino of Riverbend GC.  Both players went on to represent our Section at the 2011 PGA Assistant National Championship at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

~History of Fairwood Golf & Country Club~

Head PGA Professional Rick Larson is excited to host this event at his course.  Fairwood G&CC was founded in 1967 by George E. Bell.  The course was originally designed by golf course architect, William G. Teufel, however newer designs by local architect John Harbottle III have been submitted and incorporated.  Fairwood G&CC has had the honor of hosting a number of competitive tournaments over the years, including the Washington State Open.  Despite the lack of length, Fairwood G&CC still provides a tough but fair challenge, due to its narrow fairways and firm and fast greens.
