1998 Tournament:
It was the second year the Oregon Open was played and the first repeat at the highly acclaimed Crosswater Club. Bill Porter, of Hylander Greeens, captured his second straight Oregon Open. Porter opened the championship with an impressive two-under par 70. On the final round Porter started the day with a three shot lead, but by the 8th tee Mike Barnett, of Evergreen Golf Center, had caught Porter. By the end of the Porter regained the lead with birdie and then stretched it to two strokes with a birdie on the 12th hole. On the 13th par 3 Barnett moved back within one behind Porter with birdie. Porter on the 14th par 4, 457 yard left the green with a birdie which sealed his victory for his 2nd consecutive year winning the Oregon Open.
