Annual Spring Meeting
CDA Resort
February 20, 2005
I. President Chad Stoddard called the meeting
to order at 6:05 p.m. with Luke Baker, Ron Barker, Mike Bean, Les Blakely,
Troy Blood, Randy Buckenberger, Matt Bunn, Shelley Cardenas, Rod Carlson,
Cory Crews, Tony Cuchessi, Tom Davidson, Todd Sprong, Jeff Shaw, Kit
DeAndre, Mike Deprez, Stan Edwards, Rick Eisele, Troy Emch, Dean Fotis,

II. A moment of silence was recognized for Bob
Worden.
III. Congratulations were extended to Matt Bunn
(Hayden Lake CC) and Rex Schultz (Esmerelda) for their recent appointments
as Head Professionals, respectively.
IV. It was moved and seconded that the minutes from
the Fall Meeting Sept. 20, 2004 at the CDA Casino be accepted.
V. Board meeting earlier that evening was recapped.
VI. Chris Johnston – Vice President
- Brenda Hall has been appointed as the “WebPage
Manager.”
- Weekly Pro-Am results and points will be updated
and posted by Wed.
- His goal is to operate the budget to break-even.
As it has been in the past.
- One change from last year to the budget is the
risk-free loan we provided to the Section. It will be repaid with
interest.
VII. Chad Stoddard - President
- Thank you to Steve Prugh and the Tournament
Committee for their efforts.
- Pamela McKinzie is returning for the ’05 season.
She will be asked to train an assistant that can act in the event of her
absence.
- Rex Schultz and Scott Peterborg have update the
Rules and Regulations to ’05. The new version will be available soon on
the WebPage.
- Thank you to the volunteers who cut down clubs for
the juniors.
- Announced the Sponsor Appreciation Tournament.
- Announced the importance of having Section leaders
in our Chapter. Specifically, Les Blakely and Mark Gardner.
VIII. Section Leaders
Les Blakely – President
- The section office has moved from Indian Summer to
Tumwater.
- The merchandise show in Oct. will remain the
same. However, there will now be a smaller soft goods show in the
spring. Currently, locations for both are being discussed –
specifically the Emerald Queen in Tacoma, WA for the fall show.
- Please get online and sign up for “Play Golf
America.”
- A PGA learning center is set to break ground soon
in Coyote Springs – Las Vegas. It is a 30,000 acre development that
will be controlled by the PGA.
- Urges all to participate in programs and
tournaments.
Mark Gardner – Tournament Chairman
- Goal is to increase participation.
- Announced changes to two of the “Majors.” The
Oregon Open and the NW Open.
- He now has an 800 toll free number if you’d like
to call him.
Jeff Ellison – Executive Director
- Section Spring meeting is scheduled for 3/21.
- TopFlite tourney is taking late entries.
- The Giusti at Riverside will have a two-day ProAm.
- There will be an adjustment to skins for that
event. $10/day - $25/tournament.
- CPC at Whitefish Lake. Now those that advance
from the Section will go directly to the Nat’l CPC. No more regional
tourney.
- Thanks to our sponsors.
- In order to save $, the section will no longer
publish job bulletins and mailers. They are available on line.
- Encourage to participate in the Buick Scramble.
- Now all PGA members are automatically members of
the USGA.
- Volunteers are needed at the Public Golf Show at
Quest Field in Seattle to cut down clubs for kids and teach free
lessons.
- Will be at all Section events in ’05.
Jeff Beaudry – Career Consultant
- CareerNet provides an opportunity to find
employees and employers.
- Encourages us to update our profile by way of the
Membership Survey.
- Outlined the Certified Professional Program
including nearest testing centers.
IX. Committee Reports
Steve Prugh – Membership/Apprentice
- New assistants must take a rules test and go
through orientation.
- Coat and tie required.
- All questions about eligibility and career path
should go to section office.
Matt Bunn – Junior Golf
- Lots of thank yous.
- 500 clubs cut down for the Spokane Golf Show.
- Cup points available now at the ProJr.
- Announced appointment of Tom Davidson as Jr.
Chairman.
Education – Andy Mackimmie
- Thanked sweet 16 sponsors.
- Presented the itinerary for the week.
Tournaments – Steve Prugh
- Results of the fall survey showed that 1. low
participation, 2. cost of entry, and 3. pace of play were to most common
complaints.
- Marshals (2) will be “paid” at each event in 2005.
- Entry fee will be $40.00 for professionals and
amateurs + optional skins.
- Web Page will be updated weekly by Wednesday with
the weeks’ results.
- Five (5) Pro-Am’s with a Net payout. Bryden
Canyon, Fairways, TLV, Sundance, and U of I.
It was
decided that “Net” winners will not be given that distinction in the
Newspaper if at all possible.
- The Pro-Jr. will have cup points available.
- Sponsorship money will be held out of each weekly
payout and be available at the end of the year for all Professionals who
meet specific criteria:
- Must play in at least 15 Pro-Am events.
- Points awarded for playing in Section event that
coincides with Chapter event.
- Must either play with Sponsor Team during season
and/or participate in the Sponsor Appreciation Tournament.
- Monies will be divided as a percentage of the
whole. ie. A Professional who meets the criteria and plays in 19
events will get a larger percentage of the payout than a Professional
who meets the criteria and plays in 15 events.
- The Stoneridge Pro-Am will be a two-man team
event. The entry fee will be $60.00 per player plus optional skins and
multiple divisions and competitions will be awarded. Field size will be
limited to 72 teams and foursomes will be determined by blind-draw.
- The Pro vs. Am cup Matches will be named the “Jim
Shriver Memorial Cup Matches.” To be eligible to compete all players
must be available for all events.
- Pro vs. Pro Cup Matches against the Central WA
Chapter
- 8-highest point Pros.
- 4-highest point Srs.
- Nov. 7-8 – Location TBA
- Washington PGA Match Play
- 8 players from IEPGA will compete.
- If more than 8 interested, the individual gross
score at the Liberty Lake Pro-Am will determine the team.
- Players must enter the WA PGA match play
tourney.
- Sponsor Appreciation Tournament
- Site – TBA/
- Fri., Sept. 23rd
- Professional Golf Clinic @ 11:30am
- Box Lunch @12:30
- Shotgun start @ 12:45
- Awards party following golf
- All amateurs whose handicaps were “frozen” at the
end of the season in ’04 will be re-frozen in ’05 upon their first ProAm
score below the course rating. (Per rules and regulations.)
