The entry is now available for the Senior Players’ Championship at Indian Summer G&CC on April 23-24th. After last year’s event, we decided to return to the original format of this championship based on your feedback.

All competitions are based on gross scores. There will be an individual professional, individual amateur and four-ball competition. Individuals will be paid in three divisions – Open, 58-64, 65+. Actual purse in divisions is based on distribution of entries.

The Senior Players’ Championship team entry deadline is Wednesday, April 18th.

CLICK HERE for the Senior Players’ Championship team entry.

Consistently ranked among the best-conditioned courses in the state, Indian Summer Golf & Country Club has hosted the 1995 Washington Open Invitational, the 1996 Washington State Amateur Open, and 1996 and 1997 Nike Tour events. Nike players voted it “Best of Nike Tour” and Golf Digest consistently names it one of the “Top Ten Courses in Washington.” The course opened in April of 1992 and continues to be one of the Northwest’s premier private clubs. Much of the credit for the highly rated course belongs to internationally acclaimed architect, Peter L.H. Thompson. His ability to create a sense of “place” and to subtly remind golfers that they are part of a special environment is apparent throughout Indian Summer G&CC. Head PGA Professional Steven Borror and the OKI Golf management team are excited to host this year’s event.

We look forward to you joining us for the Senior Players’ Championship and returning to this exciting format!

Entries are now available for the PNW PGA Pro-Assistant Championship at Columbia Edgewater CC on March 19-20th. Head PGA Professional and our Section Secretary Bryan Tunstill is excited to host this year and invites you to join us for both the tournament and our Spring General Meeting which will immediately follow our first round at 7:00 pm. You are all invited to attend. Dress for the meeting is golf attire but it is okay to wear a jacket!

CLICK HERE for the Pro-Assistant entry

The Pacific Northwest Pro-Assistant Championship launched into the tournament world in 1992 with a seven hole sudden-death match between the Progress Downs team of Jerry Minor/Ralph West and the Royal Oaks team of Steve Bowen/Michael Wilkerson with the Progress Downs’ team being victorious.

The historic Columbia Edgewater was founded in 1925 and designed by Vernon Macan, who the 18 hole course is also named after. In October of 1929, the Oregon Open Invitational was won by Horton Smith who defeated Walter Hagen. Smith would later go on to win the Master’s the next spring. In 1955, two members, Bruce Cudd and Dick Yost made the prestigious Walker Cup team. Prior to Cudd and Yost, only once before had two members of the same club made the Walker Cup the same year. This was accomplished by Bobby Jones and Watts Gun from the Atlanta Athletic Club (YEAR). The 1961 Portland Open, hosted by Columbia Edgewater CC, was won by Billy Casper who beat out Dave Hill, and the following year Jack Nicklaus won. CECC has hosted many section events in addition to those events listed above. They also hosted the LPGA Safeway Classic from 1974-75, 1977-79, 82-82, 86-87, and 90-2008.

Sally Schmitz is back as a sponsor of the Pro-Assistant Championship with Bushnell. Bushnell has been the industry leader in high performance sports optics for over 50 years while offering cutting edge technology on a wide array of rangefinders.

Bryan Dickson is also a returning sponsor with Cutter & Buck. Cutter & Buck is a premier line of golf-inspired apparel for men and women who appreciate innovative, high-quality sportswear and was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1989.

We hope to see you at the Pro-Assistant Championship and our General Meeting at Columbia Edgewater next month!

PHOENIX (January 27, 2012) – Paul Cobleigh at Suntides Golf Course has been honored as a 2011 PING Regional Club Fitter of the Year, PING announced today.

The company, which pioneered custom fitting nearly 40 years ago, recognized Cobleigh for his commitment to helping golfers of all abilities improve their games through custom fitting.

“Golfers know PING for our leadership in custom fitting, and we are held to a higher standard, so we’re grateful for experts like Paul who demonstrate every day how properly fit equipment leads to lower scores and more fun on the golf course,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Paul is a consummate professional who combines excellent communication skills with technical expertise, and is a tireless advocate for PING’s fitting philosophy. For all these reasons, he is very deserving of this recognition.”

While the Section enjoyed one of the worst winter blasts in many years, seventy players from the great Northwest enjoyed one of the best winter blasts at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Resort! The timing could not have been better as your fellow professionals enjoyed 80 degree temperatures and the hospitality of PGA Head Professional Tom Sursely and his staff for seven days at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. Players got to experience the popular Mauna Lani North and South courses in between excursions to the volcano, deep sea fishing and just soaking up some rays at the many beaches on the island.

When the dust settled, Ray Comella took home low professional honors for the second year in a row thanks to a 64 in the first round over that always fun South Course.

Dan Porter and his folks from Avondale took home the team title after a short absence from the event. Congratulations!

Thanks to the vision of Membership Committee Chair Sean Fredrickson, we’ve developed the first Pacific Northwest Section Mentoring and Networking Conference.

The objective: Provide PGA Apprentices and Assistant Golf Professionals with the tools, relationships, and perspectives they need to be successful PGA Professionals by connecting them with industry leaders who will share their experiences on achieving success in the golf profession.

Designed specifically for fairly new apprentices, this is not your typical education seminar. You’ll spend time discussing current topics affecting the golf business and your career with fellow professionals and veteran leaders in the Section.

Thanks to Nike Golf, who will be picking up the tab for the hotel and hosting us at the Tiger Woods Center, this workshop will cost only $25 for participants. Click the image below to register or for complete details. Questions: Call Sean Fredrickson at Tualatin CC 503-692-4620 or Jeff Ellison 800-688-4653.
