Name of PD Program: New Golfer Bootcamp for Women

Type of PD Program: Adult Beginner

Details of Program

The New Golfer Bootcamp program specifically targeted Beginning Women Golfers. We utilized the Operation 36 curriculum for instruction. This program introduction was one day a month for 4 hours. We started the day off with a pro shop tour, practice facility tour and how to check in for a tee time and operation of golf cars.

We wanted the students to become comfortable in many areas of golf. This includes booking and making tee times, checking in at pro shop, golf car operation, and of course the fundamentals of golf.

We started at the putting green with chip & pitch shots for instruction. After instruction, we took these golfers to the course and played from 50 yards. Other areas we covered were some basic rules and scorecard tabulating with stats. At the end of each class, we met back at the pro shop and had snacks drinks.

We also gave each student a welcome pack with ball mark, divot tool, logo ball and rule books.

Results of Program

Results were slow to start and finished strong! We had a total of 14 women take part in the 3 days of programming.

Total Revenue Generated Total revenue generated was around $2,000.00, which includes merchandise, greens fees and F&B. Additionally, 3 of the 14 women will be taking academy classes in the fall or spring, which will raise the revenue to approx. $4,000.00.

Recommendations

This program embodies what we believe is important to the beginning golfer. Most beginners are scared to death to start something new. We feel that introducing them to the whole golf course experience is key. This seemed to relax everyone prior to hitting a golf shot. What to expect when they arrive at a facility, where are the practice areas, where are carts, where’s the first tee etc. Get outside the box and introduce the game on the whole experience level! We have had feedback from the students that expressed their excitement to further their golf journey. Quote from Student: “The staff was so awesome and patient with us. The instructor gave us so much to take home and practice as far as the game goes. At least now I can go to a golf course and be confident too! Thank you for everything.”
